Established in 2013, the European-American Cultural Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation headquartered in Washington, D.C. that fosters collaboration and cultural bonds between the European Union, the EU Member States and the United States. It is grounded in the principle that transatlantic understanding, partnership, cooperation and friendship are essential to international peace, stability, and equitable growth.
We believe that cultural institutions, artists, and creatives play a vital role in driving positive change, drawing our attention to our shared humanity as well as to major issues of today that require our attention and our response as a global community. The Foundation’s story began with the Kids Euro Festival, counting 200+ events in our first year. Today, we are expanding to support a variety of programs throughout the year that serve to:
Develop long-term people-to-people relationships through the arts
Foster transatlantic dialogue through cultural cooperation and exchange
Increase awareness of European values and diverse cultural identities
Engage with new audiences through the creatives of the European Union
Through culture, our programs demonstrate a unified Europe that shares many values with Americans such as democracy, freedom of expression, human rights, sustainability and respect for our environment. We are grateful to have worked with many partners who help us provide equitable access to the arts for Americans of all backgrounds.
Past programs have included partnerships with the following:
